Pasta Sauce

Today the fabulous cooks in Room 18 whipped up a batch of pasta sauce which they served on crackers to Room 22 and 23.

First they had to cut the leek, cook that until it was soft. Then cut the tomatoes and cook them too. They added some herbs and salt and let the liquids evaporate off.

The tomatoes that we used are John Dunn tomatoes which we grew at school... And we grew the leeks as well.

Then it was put onto rice crackers ready to serve. We looked at keeping ourselves safe by washing hands, using knives correctly and standing sensibly near the electric frypan. They were helped by our amazing Year 7 & 8 helpers who keep a close eye on them every step of the way.

Then we took the food over to Room 22 and 23. It was great to be able to share with the students who had done the cooking and sharing last year. They loved the idea that they were now the big kids!!
